The North York Coin Club is sponsoring a new collectibles sale, jointly with the Mississauga Coin, Stamp and Collectibles Club.

The featured speaker for our January meeting will be Paul Petch. Paul's topic will be- Token Enthusiasm: The Colonial Coinages Authors (and their books) - a powerpoint program originally given as a part of the RCNA 2011 Educational Symposium. The program traces the writers and the books and articles that document the tokens used as general currency prior to Canadian onfederation.

The January meeting will hold a very special significance for Paul. It is the 50th anniversary of him becoming a member of the North York Coin CLub!

The Golden (50th) Anniversary of the North York coin club is now part of the club's colourful past and the commemorative medal is safely in the collections of those who ordered them.
     In total only 82 medals were struck! Six of this total, one of each planchet type, are destined for the club archives leaving only 76 which will be available to collectors. As promised a real collectors item!
     Over one-third of these are struck in .999 fine silver (1 troy oz.) with approximately ten in each of the other five metals- German Silver (a nickel alloy), Cupronickel, Nickel-plated Brass, Brass and Bronze.

The first 50th anniversary medal struck; the medal is one troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
